What is API 609
API 609 refers to the American Petroleum Institute butterfly valve standard. API 609 specifies the design, materials, testing, FTF and dimensions of butterfly valves.The standard covers different types of butterfly valves, including lug-type butterfly valves, wafer-type butterfly valves and double-flange butterfly valves.
There are two catagories of API 609: A and B. Catagory A refers to concentric butterly valves, while Catagory B refers to eccentric butterfly valves.
When selecting an API 609 butterfly valve, factors such as material of construction, connection type (lug, wafer, or flange), pressure rating, temperature range, and flow characteristics should be considered.
API 609 Valves Type For Your Choice
- Connection: Wafer, Flange(double flange, single flange), Lug.
- Structure: center line, double eccentric, triple eccentric.
- Body material: Ductile Iron(GGG40/50), LCB, Carbon Steel(WCB A216), Stainless Steel(SS304/SS316/SS304L/SS316L) , Duplex Stainless Steel(2507/1.4529).
- Disc material: DI(Ni lined), WCB (A216), Stainless Steel(SS304/SS316/SS304L/SS316L) , Duplex Stainless Steel(2205/2507).
- Seat: Rubber (EPDM, NBR), PTFE, Metal.
- Actuator Options: Lever, Worm Gear, Electric Actuator, Pneumatic Actuator.
- Pressure rating: PN6-PN40.
- Temperature range: -46~+425℃.
